BRIDGET KOCH-TIMOTHY
Psychologist
I have spent most of my life in the Sacramento Valley, having grown up in Woodland and attended high school in Sacramento. I moved to the Santa Cruz area for college in 2001, and after graduating from UC Santa Cruz with a Bachelor’s in Psychology in 2005, I returned to Sacramento. I spent a couple of years working at Big Brothers Big Sisters after college, before beginning my graduate school program in 2007.
I attended the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University here in Sacramento, where I earned my doctorate in psychology. While enrolled in classes, I received training at a number of different practicum sites including; American Legion High School, The Anxiety Treatment Center, The Sacramento Vet Center, and Sacramento Psychiatry and Wellness. I completed my pre-doctoral and post-doctoral hours at the Women’s Enrichment Center in San Carlos, where I worked with women experiencing both substance-abuse and mental health disorders.
After obtaining my license in 2014, I spent a little over 2 years working at Sage Anxiety Treatment Center, where I received comprehensive training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I began seeing clients in private practice in the spring of 2015 and have continued to expand my hours in private practice ever since. I am a member of the American Psychological Association, the California Psychological Association, the Sacramento Valley Psychological Association, and the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science.
When I’m not in the office, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. Some of my favorite activities are taking my dog for walks around town, checking out new restaurants, reading, and getting some time in the garden. I love being in nature, and I particularly enjoy hiking in Tahoe or the Santa Cruz Mountains, and travelling to the coast to appreciate the beach.
For many of us, starting therapy can seem like a daunting process. We wonder “what will it be like?” “will I like my therapist?” “will it be painful?” “will it actually help me?” and so much more! Here, I’d like to provide some basic information about myself and my practice with the hope that it will help therapy feel more approachable.
Let's Talk About It!
